2006 330 iDrive Issues
has anyone had problems with their idrive knob spinning by itself.
Sometimes when I'm browsing though menus/options the idrive lose controlls and contiunes to spin by itself. Anyone else seen this or heard of it before? |

I'm afraid I haven't had this issue. If I am scrolling down a long list (like, a list of albums on my iPod) I get some resistance, but it will continue to scroll.

If you spin the knob too far and there is resistance but you keep turning it, it will turn back by it self to that initial point of resistance. I once hit the knob cleaning and it spun rapidly for about 3 seconds and then stopped...This is with the car off but with the iDrive on. I was listening to music while cleaning. Idk what triggered it but it spun like it was crazy. I have never experienced what you have in your video. Talk to your dealer about it. Might be a faulty controller? Also check your connections. All you have to do is pull up on the trim. It is pretty firmly clipped in but with some force it will pop right out.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IDrive CCC - update 1 This is a minor update to iDrive Professional debuted in March 2007. It adds additional programmable buttons in the dashboard to directly access frequent functions and it removes the haptic feedback from the iDrive controller. It is available on the 3-Series E90/E91/E92/E93 manufactured between March 2007 and September 2008.

No, that is definitely not normal and IMO is a bit funny. Sorry.
But no, I've never even heard/seen anyone complain about the issue you're seeing. I don't think it's common at all.
