2006 e90 JBE to JBE3 retrofit

Hi, has anyone tried replacing a JBE 1 with a JBE 3 in a pre 03/2007 e90? I can see i would have to run a canbus signal to the OBD port and obviously flash the new JBE. Is there any other wiring besides the OBD port and would it require much more coding like changing the production date etc? Thanks

I went ahead and attempted this retrofit, it was a success! I added the canbus wires to the OBD port, including the inline resistor as i removed the wiring from an LCI parts car i have. I then turned the car on coded the JBE, wrote the vin and it all worked perfectly. Note my car was already programmed to a 06/2010 build date as i needed to do this to get facelift adaptive xenons working correctly, but this may or may not be important.
