Lol I didn't mean I don't wipe it down a few times, I just meant at the end of the cleaning process there isn't any sticky residue that needs additional cleaning with a damp cloth. It's not one step, it's just one less step.

Would you say the CL Shield does something? Never used it, wondering if I should.
Been using leather milk / cleaner / wax so far, from Swissvax (and ArmorAll wipes for a quick clean inbetween).

I would describe it as kind of a ceramic coating but for leather. Helps keep things clean and protects against minor scrapes and scratches. Need to apply every 3-6 months (right after a cleaning). I'm very happy with it and you can definitely feel it with your hands, it has a slightly waxy texture to it. I've also accidentally left a scratch or two on my wheel (after cutting my nails) and the marks rubbed right out. One bottle will last you a while, probably 2 years at least. Would definitely recommend it (assuming you don't already own a similar product).

Interestingly they claim it is for vehicles (leather) which are 3 years old or newer….
Not sure why years matter more and not usage / km. Also didn't find an answer to the question "And then…?" 🤔

Lol, I must be in sync with Andrew - today was my interior care day here too.

I also use Sonax, both their leather and Alcantara care products. Work great, easy to use. 3-4 times year, for about 4 years now. Trying to keep those Panda insides clean…

After 3 years they recommend switching from "shield" to "protector": https://a.co/d/7rnXL2U

Not sure what that recommendation is based on, I assume just estimated use and UV exposure over time. They recommend different cleaners as well, first a mild for new leather, then a strong for the older stuff (although you still have the option of getting the leather protector + mild cleaner if you want)

New leather set: https://a.co/d/iGEXI4M

Older leather set: https://a.co/d/9yA0XDC

There's also a dedicated steering wheel kit: https://a.co/d/ifXrrod

Skyhigh, I have the Ivory White/Night Blue Merino interior in my X6. I have it treated with the Colourlock Shield. It has been only one month but no dye transfer on the ivory. Dirt stains left by detail shop on ivory arm rest and door cleaned really easy with the Colourlock Gentle Cleaner. I also have treated some light grey leather sofa and loveseat in my living room with the Colourlock Shield. No stains on them either.

My F36 has brown Dakota leather interior. Don’t think there is much benefit of trying to shield the darker interior.

Colourlock Shield won’t completely prevent dye transfer, but hopefully will minimize it and make it easier to clean. I think it has to be reapplied every 6 months.

I am not really concerned about dye…. On black leather
What I am curious about is if it provides any layer of protection e.g. against sweat and dirt on the steering wheel and/or against micro scratches on the seats, which I find hard to believe.
I am using leather care as mentioned, but never any sort of shield/coating on leather, so that's new territory to me.

CL Leather Shield is supposed to “prevent surface damage on leather exposed to high levels of friction”. That’s their claim on the packaging… I can’t vouch for that yet.

Looks great. Love the color pop. I'm planning on slowly adding gold accents (tasteful ones!) To my mineral gray f30

I can vouch for it. Obviously you can't expect it to prevent major damage, but light contact scratches from things like fingernails, watches, etc. are definitely minimized, if not prevented completely. Not sure about regular wear and tear over time from normal use, will try to remember to let everyone know in a few years, ha.

my bmw credit card has an offer for double points on BMW charges, so I gave in and bought the sliding arm rest.

Not sure what I like better, the armrest or the RGB keyboard. Did you go linear, clicky or tactile? I'm a big fan of the Zealio v2: https://zealpc.net/collections/all-p...ant=6502846147

Had an LED front fog burn out after 3 months. Swapped in a less shitty set, hopefully these last longer.

Just a heat sink, but yes, should help a ton. The cheap ones are probably fine if you just occasionally use them as intended. Mine however are coded as DRLs so they stay on/heat up regularly and for long periods of time.
