I made many of these limp modes videos with my 2013 335i xDrive too. Your video looks exactly the same as what I have recorded... Send your car to the shop.

It happened to me 2 or 3 times in a two month period but once time since I had the MPPK installed (~2300 miles). I can't explain it.

Visit 1: aux fan
Visit 2: software update
Visit 3: fan relay

I experienced limp mode after the first 2 fixes. After the relay was replaced, no limp mode yet but according to other members, replacement of relay will not solve the problem.

I had to share my experience. I got that drivetrain failure at around 500 miles. Dealer replaced the turbo and it never came back.

Okay I'll see what they come up with today as I now had it two days straight in a row but just dropped off my car and I will see later today what they say

I get this all the time and the other day my car over heated and had to get towed to the shop. They replaced the fan. Thats attempt one of fixing it, hopefully it doesn't happen again.

My one goes in on Tuesday, although I have only experienced it a few times on longer trips, like this weekend, but will see what they say... :-/

Does any of you had anything connected into the OBD connector when you experienced the car limping. The service at my dealership today said that the auxiliary fan had to be replaced and the reason of limping was that I had the Valentine radar detector connected into the OBD connector... Cheap excuse, will argue tomorrow when I pick it up...

No, nothing was hooked up. That smells like BS.

Somewhat similar thing happened to me for the first time on Sunday after 6 hour trip back from NC.... got into some stop n go traffic in Northern VA and i was pressing the gas and the RPM and turbos would spool but i wasn't really going anywhere... felt like it was all motor... didn't get a CEL or any warning lights so just cruised it back home... next day, fired it up and it ran like a champ... very strange.. haven't called the shop yet since it seems fine?
