New wheels with New TPMS from Tirerack question

I need a little help, I'm buying new wheels and new TPMS sensors from tirerack. (Makes more sense than transferring TPMs from my car $$)
Do I need a special tool to sync the sensors to me car?
2022 228i grand coupe.

Thx.

No. Just reset the TPMSs in the idrive menu.

It auto syncs with new ones from tire rack? No dealership visit?

It's worthwhile to double check that the right TPMS sensors are being ordered for your specific vehicle AND model year.

Even the sensor is operating at 433 MHz, the data encoding protocols can vary from model year to model year.

Tire Rack asks for year and model. They will give you the right TPMSs.

And yes no dealership trip required.

Another thing to keep in mind is to reuse your TPMSs. I did that with my new wheels. Discount Tires did not charge me anything to move the TPMSs to the new wheels when they moved my tires to the new wheels.

If you are getting both tires and wheels from Tire Rack then I would get new TPMSs also. Tire Rack doesn't charge for mounting tires and installing TPMSs when you also buy wheels.

Thank you all for the responses. Yes that's exactly what I did, Tirerack does no charge for mounting and balancing, so I ordered the TMPS from them.

It made sense, otherwise I would have to pay a shop to transfer them. Which would have involve balancing again for two sets of tires if I wanted to keep the old ones ready to sell.

FWIW I bought a set of four off e-bay for less than $40 total and they synced right up after I put the wheels on the car and selected reset in the iDrive. I was pleasantly surprised.
