06 325i N52 Oil Level Low Sensor

Hi, oil changed 7 months ago and have put 2k miles on the car. Car recently has OFHG leak fixed along with four coolant hoses and oil change at the service. No oil leaking currently.

Sporadically I’ll get the add a quart oil light when turning car off. Even after highway drives which would rule out condensation probably.

Sometimes check oil level and it’s max, albeit when cold. Sometimes timer spins and no reading and have to try to read 4 times.

Sometimes low add 1 quart never in the middle.

I want to add a quart bit seems insane that the car burnt a quart of oil or even lost it through an unknown leak in 2k miles?

Suggestions?

Add the quart? What’s the risk of overfilling?

Sensor issue can only be diagnosed with tools right? Oil needs to be measured at next change?

Heh, I wish mine ate that little oil. A quart every 2k miles is within spec with these engines. Try 5w-40.

Also drive it some more, sometimes it takes a while oil level sensor to adjust. Nothing to worry about just yet.
DO NOT add more oil just yet.

I've got the warning to add another 1 qt about seven weeks after my last add.

Is this really within spec?

Car currently has 193k miles on it.

Did you check the level after addition? What was it?

What was the mileage you drove after a quart.

An n52 high mileage is def going to burn oil, but answer the above.

My sensor is at a quarter over minimum or sometimes asks for the quart. Idk anymore it would be safe to add half a quart but hood is stuck. Imma just go get a change and measure the oil

After adding a quart the internal sensor listed it as full.

I think I drove about 800 miles since adding, maximum.
