Radar-mirror
Anyone ever use the website radar-mirror.com? I've been looking into getting a Valentine One radar detector, but would like some feedback about people who have had it integrated into their rear view mirrors.

I had one of Scott's early Remote mirror Valentine One systems build for my 2008 335i Sedan which I installed in 09. He has since branched out to other systems and formally started the RADAR-Mirror.com company.
At the time, I sent him my rear-view mirror and rear center headrest. Got everything back in about a week. Took about 1.5 hrs to install. Worked flawlessly until I sold the car last month. My only minor issue was during the day with the sun somewhat behind you, the V-1 Mirror display was sometimes difficult to see. He may have refined the process and addressed that issue by now. I plan to get another of his systems for my new 13 335i. |

I considered it but $500, plus the $400 for the V1 for a radar only system is a bit crazy IMO.
I personally just mounted the V1 remote display to my steering column and wired the unit to the cigarette lighter under the passenger foot well. The wires are all completely concealed, it required no actual hard wiring or modification of the car and the mute button (most important reason I want the remote display in the first place) is easily reached. V1 also offers the iPhone display now which is much nicer and IMO it's easier to put together a nice phone mount for less than $500, it gives you much more info as well. Beyond that I'd consider going to a fully integrated system that includes laser jammers if they use LIDAR in your area.

This sounds rather interesting! I still have my 9-band Cobra radar detector. I plan on tossing it once my 335i gets here. It somehow left rust scratches on the windshield of my Mazdaspeed 3. I didn't even consider buying a new detector until now----radar jammer?!?

Radar jammers are 100% illegal and don't really exist. Laser Jammers are legal in most states and do exist. They require you to mount external heads (Infrared LED based) somewhere in the bumper of the car and can only offer a certain level of protection which depends on a lot of variables (headlights, front plates, positioning, gun type, distance, etc) before they will "punch through" an enable a speed reading. But if it gives you a second or two to slow down they can pay for themselves in one shot.
I saved myself at least 2 tickets on my TL with laser jammers.
