Can't believe it... So finally dinan has a tune for the f30.

First question: will this be more powerful than PPK in real world?

Next, will this work on cars that have a PPK?

I think the Dinan tune is a piggy not flash.
So it is comparable to the JB4.

if it's a piggy I'd go for MPPK , atleast you get faster shifts , better steering ,throttle response and obviously 40hp+ from the underrated claim.

There wont be much difference between dinan and jb4 other then the warranty?

True but I would pay for the warranty, personally. I would be partial to dinan anyhow based on their tracking record and experience.

At first I was turned off at the idea of the piggy-back... but one obvious plus is the ability to sell the unit if you get rid of the car....Which is cool because I have traded in a few cars with a flash tune installed, and you essentially kiss that money good bye right.

But dinan will only match the 4 year factory warranty. Once the dealer finds out about the tune the extended warranty is void for the engine? Would it be better to just have extended warranty and the jb4? So remove it when u bring in for service?

Kind of a disappointment.. waited so long... Prob just go with MPPK now.

+ Dinan advertises in BHP at the crank while all the other aftermarket tunes are in WHP, horsepower at the wheels. So the Dinan 364BHP is overstated by about 15% compared to the JB4 & COBB units.

Out of the tens of thousands of cars with Jb4 .
How many of them damaged their engine and needed a warranty fix ?
The warranty thing is really over hyped, my car is FBO with DP,FMIC,DCI,inline fuel pump,e65 and pushing 20 psi boost.
I remove the JB4 before my dealership bisit, never had a problem (2 different cars , 2 different deanship both gave me no problems).

Yes the JB4 will give you more power and more features.

If you want to remove the JB4 every time you go in for service...

The PPK isn't that bad, it's just not pushing crazy amounts of boost.

If it's your DD and you intent to keep for 6-8 years, the PPK is a nice way to have more power unlocked....after my warranty period is up at 100k, I'm they'll be another amazing piggy back out there.

I checked the Dinan website a few days ago and there was ZERO mention of a "piggyback" for the F30. Dinan's never done a piggyback and continues to advertise the superiority of flash tuning versus piggyback, so the original post is rather dubious.

For the naysayers out there, how about we make a bet? If Dinan does release a piggyback for the 335s(even if its pre 07/13...the wastegate change)you buy me my JB4 and downpipe. Then if they dont, I will buy you the flash they release? Any one wanna make a deal?

Talked to Dinan at bimmerfest. It's gonna be a piggy unfortunately.

F30 has been out for a while and the rep said they are already late to market and it doesn't make financial sense to keep pushing for a flash, especially when the new DME's are nearly impossible to crack without BMW's help. The rep went on to say BMW USA has been supportive but BMW Germany has been the one that's been hard to work with. Wouldn't make sense for BMW to give Dinan DME access when they now have PPK available as an upgrade.

Sucks that they have to eat their own words regarding piggybacks. Still respect Dinan but their tune is now even more overpriced for what it is.
