Jb4 map 2 on stock charge pipe ?

So I know this isn't recommended on the e series but was wondering if the f series is any better I already bought the downpipe and charge pipe and because I don't have the patience nor am I mechanically involved im going to have to pay labor for both which comes out to about 480

It's pretty shitty that you have to take off the inter cooler to get this charge pipe on so I was thinking of just having the downpipe done my car only has 3000 miles would the charge pipe break day 1 or what anyone running stock with jb4 with no issues?

With added boost it's always a risk of breaking--you already have the CP, might as well do it. You do not have to remove the intercooler for it only loosen it and move it a few inches.

The FMIC doesn't have to come out but I imagine it'll make the pipe come out much easier. I just did the install today without removing the intercooler.

As for map 2 on a stock car, that's up to you. Most wouldn't recommend it without a DP at a minimum.

We are seeing posts of them breaking with stock boost with some regularity now...it's like Russian Roulette.

+2

If you have it you should get it installed. I can't imagine the shop would charge that much more if you are getting the downpipes installed at the same time.

Ive had my 335 for close to 2 years and i consider myself pretty aggressive driver. My luck that i have jb4 map1 w/ stock cp and no issues, yet. Thanks to mike x-hp i ordered er cp and er dp for a good deal last year. Just waiting to get my letter regarding smog test (which should be any day now) so i can get those parts installed IMMEDIATELY and switch the map2 with some e85. Also have a bms intake that should be arriving today. See what all the hype is about but I'm so looking forward for that time to come.
Either way, i would swap out stock cp just for peace of mind. You don't want it to fail on you, get stranded, towed and waste your whole day over something you kind of knew was bound to happen and could have avoided.

Why not give map 5 a try with E85?

Thought about it but id rather just wait. I should be getting smog done really soon anyway. Like i mention, im pretty aggressive and dont want cp to fail on me. Btw, I just heard e85 for ewg vehicles (my 2014) is not recommended. Im going to have to do some research regarding this news and see if true or false.

Yeah the CP, to me, was the most important after I had mine replaced under warranty.

As for E85 use on EWG cars, this is from BMS:

"7) As a general rule EWG cars are not very E85 friendly. If reliability is a concern no more than 30% E85 should be used and the highest map used should be map 2. Using map 5 or map 7 with E85 mixtures may result in boost running high enough to exceed your fueling capacity triggering various codes and/or JB4 safety map 4 switches. If you are more experienced and able to analyze your own logs you are welcome to play around, but we've instructed technical support NOT to provide assistance or advice to anyone exceeding map 2 when using E85 with the EWG platform. If you run map 5 or 7 on E85, run in to problems, and ask for help, you'll get the company line of "for E85 use no higher than 30% and map 2". For more power consider race gas instead of E85, or add in a methanol kit allowing use of map 3."

So, I guess map 5 with E85 is up to you.

What year is your car? Smog test that soon?

I just saw in the other thread you have a 2014. You shouldn't need a smog for awhile.

I have a 2014. This is my first vehicle i purchased new. In my past history all my cars (pre owned) needed to get smogged every 2 years, so I assumed it would be same for my 335. Is this not the case with new vehicles?

Here in CA, cars will not need a smog test in the first 6 years of the model year. You will only pay smog abatement fee. So, your 2014 will not need a test until 2020. That's why I went with a DP--my car will not need a test until 2019, so that gives me a few years until I have to swap.

I'm about to place an order for the ER CP soon as everyday I drive the car, I fear that my CP will just up and go. Replacing the CP will get rid of that, and I'll only have to worry about what tune I want to get next
