Delivery in SC without PCD?
So, this is a weird question, but, does anyone know if you can take delivery at the factory without doing a PCD? I'm concerned the PCD will push my delivery out too much because of scheduling challanges, however, I'd still like them to hand me the keys to the car in SC so I can make a vacation out of it, go hiking off the Blue Ridge and then drive home from up there in my new car.
Any idea if they will do this? Just "hold for pickup" at the factory? I'm still trying to get a PCD, but, given that the car is scheduled to be produced in the few weeks, I'm not confident they are going to be able to fit me in. Also, if anyone has access to the PCD scheduling system, if you could pass on any dates that are open in early July, that would be great! I'm scheduled to be finished production the 2nd week of July, but my dealer is confident that will be moved up (I don't know why he thinks that, but he's said a few times that he thinks the car might be ready before the end of the month; it's still showing "no production date" in the online system). |

I was originally planning to just have the car delivered to the dealership in California and a week before the production of the car was completed my schedule freed up and decided to try to do PCD. Shot an email to my CA whom I have been buying cars from for the last 10 years and he said he will try to get us the PCD delivery.
They were able to fit us in and we had a blast. Well worth it. You meet many amazing people that work for BMW. Give it a try and make sure your sales person contacts everyone he can and lets them know you are an important client and so on. Good luck.

I'm absolutely going to ride my CA like Zorro to try to get him to get us in. I would only take delivery in SC without PCD as a fallback option. We would like to go up there anyway for some hiking, and it would just be really convenient for us to only have to do 1/2 the driving and get our new car up there. Nothing like taking a car with 20" rims and 0 miles offroad to hiking trails. |

we requested performance Delivery 2 weeks before the completion of manufacture and they were able to fit us in 10 days after build completion. The best auto experience in; my lifetime. We took delivery on Tuesday. If you can work it out, I highly recommend it.

"If the vehicle has already been shipped to the BMW Performance Center, you are responsible for any shipping charges that apply to transport the vehicle back to your BMW Center. Vehicles are normally delivered to our facility approximately 2 weeks prior to the scheduled delivery date. " So, sounds like typically your pushing back delivery by at least 2 weeks to do a PCD. They gave me a Monday; that's not going to fly. You only have a 10 day window during with you can schedule, so you only have 2 Fridays that you can shoot for. I responded to them with the Thursday and Friday following the date they offered; I'll let you know what they come back with. |

Back in 2007 we did PCD with express delivery which bumped up our delivery significantly.
Participated in all the driving events but without the delivery piece....where your vehicle is delivered in the glass room with a very detailed overview. For us when the driving portion was over our car was parked out front, we were handed the keys and away we went. Again this was almost 7 years ago. No idea if it is still offered. |

If I understand what you're asking, I did this last year.
I took advantage of the free airport shuttle to the hotel (in a new X5), free dinner, free breakfast, free shuttle to the factory with everyone else, but then I immediately took delivery first thing that morning to head home. I did arrange to forgo all of the tours, driver's training, etc. beforehand through my salesman. PCD people were VERY accommodating - my car was even in one of their private delivery rooms w/ a delivery specialist. If I remember correctly, I was on the road and headed home by 9am... |
