Buying Second Hand 330
Hi all,
I am inching ever closer to becoming a BMW owner instead of some saddo lurking around this forum wishing I had one I've been eyeing up a few different 330's on Autotrader and wanted to run a couple past you peeps. Basically, these are the sorts of cars which I would plump for and I wanted to know if you would avoid these with a barge pole, or take a punt as I have nooooo idea. Cheers http://www.autotrader.co.uk/image-ga...andard-listing http://www.autotrader.co.uk/image-ga...andard-listing http://www.autotrader.co.uk/image-ga...andard-listing |

See if you can find one with sports seats, the standard SE ones are gash.

Ok nice one, so are the sports seats only in the m-sport models?
Do you think the SE models are best avoided - not sure if that would be a deal breaker for me if the car was in good nick unless there is other gash stuff about the SE models to be aware of. |

SE models are fine, and they can be specced with sports seats, xenons etc.
Don't think mileage is that much of a problem on these engines as long as there is a FSH.

with the way fuel is rising, it might be worth a punt on a 320d (sport if you can strech to one) ... i have always had 330's but am seriously thinking of switching to a new 320d. Its costing close to £75 to fill up, and when you need to fill up every week its a bit rough on the old wallet

wbbb- I see you're looking circa £13k assuming you're going to buy a decent used car warranty at around £500
What about this, don't forget these prices are negotiable and it will come with 12 months BMW warranty http://************/yguu2rd |

@ always - yeah I was going to go for a 320d originally but I'm tempted by the 330's better performance and as our mileage will only be around 8k per year (advantage of me and my wife both walking to work ) fuel costs are not too high on the list of concerns.
@ creepy - yeah, looks like a good one - I just want to spend as little as possible without buying a shed! £13 - £14k ish, - realistically what would the chances be of BMW AUC knocking the price from £15,500 down a grand? |

Good luck on your purchase. I love my 330i.

Have you had a test drive in a 320d as well as a 330i? A remapped 320d might be a much more sensible purchase if you intend to keep the car for any length of time. |

Not sure how you can compare a 4 pot derv burner against one of BMW's finest 6 cylinder engines. I think sometimes car ownership isn't just about economy. |

Yep, no p/x as will sell wife's car separately as it aint worth much! Just cold hard cash but will be part financing with loan. Anyone know what sort of rates the stealers are offering at the moment? I can get 8% apr with HSBC but not looked anywhere else at all yet. Is there scope for better price reduction with a stealer loan?

Just a suggestion based on the fact that the OP was originally thinking about a 320d and therefor must have compared them. I based my comparison on my own experience when I drove them back to back recently. The 330i is obviously a fantastic engine, much more refined etc but to be honest with you once I got used to both engines I didn't feel a huge difference in the performance when on the road (especially in gear acceleration) but then again, I think sometimes car ownership isn't all about 0-60 and top speed (since they are rarely used). If it was I wouldn't be in a weedy little 318d

I did put that I was considering a 320d for a while, but after posting some questions on here I think a 330 is more up my street
Got a test drive sorted for tomorrow on an 06 plate 330i SE 19k miles so will see how it goes...cheers for the feedback. |
