Meth Injection Suggestions

Hello, I have some question regarding meth injection in N55. I want to pair it with 93 Oct to act as fueling since I don’t have E85 available near me and a BM3 custom tune. However since I want to use it as fueling I want a failsafe/safety in place so that if meth fails the DME can pull timing or such to protect the engine. Does anyone have any suggestion for failsafe and how to integrate them for a F-Series N55?

So you want to use it at octane, not fueling? Using it as fueling means you want more quantity of fuel, but using it instead of E85 implies you want to use it for more octane. It can do both, just clarifying.

What you described in built into the DME. You can in theory have additional fail safes depending on the controller and complexity of your system but it depends how your custom tune is setup. There's a couple big threads on meth i recommend finding them in this section. A few people here are very knowledgeable about it.

best course of action is to pick a tuner and ask them what solutions are available today to integrate meth controller to DME via custom tuning. much like how an ethanol sensor can enable flex tunes, i'm sure someone can figure out how a meth fault code will trigger a 'safe map'

the less graceful way is to get a meth controller than has output channels for faults and some folks will use that to ground the wastegate and put car to limp mode.

finally, you could roll the dice and have no failsafe and rely on the DME to sense knock and pull timing. or have the HPFP crash and get misfires. there's your warning to let off.

Snow performance, devils own, and jb4 are the most common meth systems. Suggest you look into these. Each play well with bm3.

I cant speak to snow or DO, but the jb4 does have a fail safe where if meth stops flowing it will dump boost and kick you to a safety map, not limp mode.

I have the jb4 system and have no complaints. I have never triggered the safety so I dont know how quick it is. The f30 dme is very smart and fast. It's entirely possible that it may detect a problem and institute limp mode faster than the safety. But the safety net is there if it doesn't.

can't believe i forgot about jb4! i never used it myself, but it seems to have the most integration and user customization (without actual modifying tunes in DME), up until the new fuel controllers like motiv reflex came out.

Option1: Have not seen this done on N55 yet. Maybe because a bit overkill as the DME own safeties are so stout..?

Option2: I am running this. Working flawlessly - see video above.

Option3: This works also. For setups where meth is not used for fuel volume I would actually just do this. I have probably experienced injector shutdown due to low fuel pressure ~10 times. You definitely feel that haha (I am using meth for fuel volume also).
