Do you all use wheel locks?
I got a set of BMW OEM wheel locks on my car and they are a PITA to remove, already twisted two set of keys when trying to remove the locks, and I'm thinking about getting rid of them.
Do most of you guys use wheel locks? Any other choices besides the OEM ones? (Preferably with a different kind of key/adapter than the OEM one) |

I use the OEM ones but after buying them and seeing the design, I wouldn't really recommend them to anyone. They look like they'll strip easily.

No.
Fortunately I don't have to park overnight on the street, etc. Always kept the key in the glove box anyway so it seems like it wouldn't help if someone wanted my wheels. |

Yea I have them:
Normally have caps on the other 4 so that they all match. They are pretty cheap (I think $60) and are made by Mcgard. Pretty happy with them.

I use the OEMs and haven't had any problem with them. I use an air impact gun to remove them and usually hand thread them on and then use a torque wrench. Make sure that you are perpendicular with the socket to the wheel. Bad things happen when you're not.

I use them on all my cars without issue. I use a torque wrench to tighten them, never the air gun!

I use Tikore lugs with their special key lock design.
Don't know why I continue to use wheel locks when all it takes is a socket and muscle power to snap it right off anyway.

The main thing is to make sure to TQ to spec all the bolts, inculding the lock. I think alot of people mistake the importance to tq lug bolts. Its very important. BMW recommends 88.5 ft lbs, but i do anywhere from 90-100. And re check after 50-100 miles.
The BMW jack kit i bought from BMW comes with a TQ wrench at a pre-set only 103 Ft lbs. I have been using this lately and works great. My lugs must have been close to 200 ft lb when i broke them loose and all unevenly match tq'd down from the local tire shop. -__- Im running the OEM BMW wheel locks, they dont guarantee against theft but will help.

all my DD cars have and have had "Wheel Locks" Mind you even with wheel locks you cannot be sure, all depends in what naighbourhood you dare to park.
When I had to park in a questionable naighbourhood I always try to park very close with the passenger side to the wall this way thieves will leave your car alone since they cannot get all 4 wheels.

I had Mcgard wheel locks and a car alarm. They popped the hood, disconnected the battery for the alarm and was able to take off the wheels without the wheel lock key.
