Issues with Vollkommen Designs LCI lip
Took my FRP e90 lci m sport lip to get installed today and ran into a couple big issues, first was the lip wasn't sitting flush in the middle leaving a gap where the bumper could sag into the lip a bit at high speeds.
Secondly and most important was after prepping the contact areas, the 3M double sided tape would not stick whatsoever to the inside of the lip. We tested it on the bumper and the tape would adhere perfectly fine to the bumper yet with no pressure at all the tape came clean off the inside of the lip. After getting some advice we sanded the contact point down on the lip and reapplied the double sided tape, still to no success. Anyone have any suggestions or tips to get this lip to fit before I return it back? Thanks!

I've installed this lip on my e90 LCI msport and 3M tape will NOT stick UNLESS you use the 3M 94 Primer. It's cheap and super easy to apply.
Lightly sand/prep the area, clean with alcohol wipe (or similar), apply 3M 94 primer, apply 3M double sided tape. I also used 6 bolts that I drilled through the lip and secure to bumper. You can use sheet metal screws however I think bolts work better. 3M tape by itself is not a safe bet, you need something else (bolts, screws) that will secure it. |
