Firefighters smash windows of BMW parked in front of hydrant
It figures it's not a Chevy. Giving us BMW owners a bad name.

Agreed. I'm envisioning a meme with the FlexSeal photo. 10 year old BMW....BAM!....kidney ///M stripes. It's almost as if it's the first thing they do as soon as they buy a 10 year bimmer. A friend sent me pics of one recently that they had used colored duct tape, on the kidneys, to give it that luxury BMW feel.

If it's a Chevy, it's a "car". But a BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Porsche, I would bet the brand would be in the headline.
For example, it's a car (actually a Nissan Altima): https://www.firerescue1.com/fire-hyd...NrPrYNDhZ9ZsZ/ Quote:
https://boston.cbslocal.com/2014/04/...was-brand-new/ Probably a dozen other incidents like this. I remember a classic E30 picture from the early 90s going around on the Welty BMW mailing list (before forums became popular, I think the list started in the late 80s). |

Looks like the NYpost journo who wrote this piece is an Audi douche) But seriously, why's that even in the news? Chevy, Toyota,Kia and many other brand drivers are speeding, parking illegally, do DUIs. Dbag share is not less if not higher in other brands, esp German and I don't like this group responsibility concept much.

I saw a similar picture several years ago. I think the driver should be called out for his lack of judgement.

I do wonder why they went through the windows, as over the hood would have been better in this particular instance.

TRANSLATION: I'm too broke to get the dealer to replace the keyfob battery, I'm too broke to fix my car, but not too broke to add a bunch of M stickers to make people think I'm not broke. This guy is the stereotype we should all avoid being.

^ This!
Something I have noticed about BMW's and their drivers. It typically isn't the wealthy BMW owner that acts like a douche. In my experience, the older drivers, who typically own expensive BMW's are generally very polite drivers. It's the drivers, such as the owner of the vehicle in this story, are the assholes. Again, had this not been a BMW, most likely wouldn't have even been a story; and in my opinion, someone should have said, "Do we even want to write this story about some POS who is trying act like a baller?" |

Probably a legit M owner who just wants to tastefully express themselves inconspicuously /s

It's usually done as a way to reduce the bend in the hose (they are water main pressure after all)... but seeing some pictures, it looks more like it was done out of tradition.
If they really wanted, they could tie a chain to the bumper and haul that junk away with their trucks but that costs valuable time. |

After talking to a few firemen I think that regardless of the situation the shortest distance will always be through the car windows.
