Adjusting halogen low beams?
Hello everybody,
I have been searching for a while now how to adjust my halogen headlights. (Although there are projectors, they are halogen) I've been looking around on the forums but have had no luck in figuring my headlights out. In the pictures I have found, under the hood there has been a screw to turn but looking around under my hood there is nothing. The bulbs for the projectors are H7, I just swapped them to OSRAM H7 Cool blues. I just feel like they are aimed a bit low. I can't find anything to adjust them with. Also, I'm guessing they aren't stock headlights as all the E90s headlights I've seen look different than mine. Anyone know what they are? Any help would be appreciated. I don't know if you'll have it, because the OEM bi-xenon headlamps will have the auto leveling headlights which give you the knob to control how high or low you want your low beam. I don't see it on yours either. It's a gear-looking knob with a + screw in the middle.

Just for clarification, so this projector with an H7 bulb is considered bi-xenon? When I bought the car they guy just told me he put the angel eyes on. Not sure what else he did. Sorry for all the questions, just a bit confused.

interesting...can't you just plug a hid kit in these since the projector is already there?

The thing is that screw is nowhere to be found (see picture). Completely missing on both sides. I've read there are two types of projectors. Halogen and HID. A couple of differences here and there. I always though I needed an HID bulb but when I opened it up it was an H7 for the low beam. Not sure what the previous owner did but I'm confused. My mom's ML550 also uses a halogen projector with an H7 which I found pretty interesting. Never knew they even existed. Currently stumped...

Strange... from the picture they look like D1S Bulbs. H7 bulbs are a completely different animal- they're plug-in halogens. Is this an aftermarket headlight kit of some sort?

Yup, I always thought they used D1S. I bought the car this way, but I am assuming they are aftermarket or taken from another model. None of the E90's I've seen for my year have this look. Also when I was changing the H7's, all the guides I found looked nothing like mine. I'll just have to live with them I guess.

Aww man dude, that sucks. Yea it really sounds like an aftermarket job.
On the upswing, there are plenty of lighting vendors (Lightwerkz, ONEighty among them), that are fantastic with headlight conversions, should you ever want to go that route. |
