just to add my two penny worth bought my ZF kit from Autodoc when they had a sale on
i think the crucial point doing this job especially at home is as mentioned get the car lifted up level with plenty of room underneath to work covers and brackets need to be removed before you can even see the box and get this far and then leave it overnight to cool down if you try and do this service even after a couple of hours the transmission oil heats up so quick that you do not have time to be filling from below and getting back into the car to cycle through the gears park, neutral, 1234567 etc manually then get back under the car and i used Bimmerlink to read the transmission oil temp which works really well, then continue filling untill full before the temp hits 50c ideally ZF says between 40-50 when you have just a trickle coming out of the fill hole thats it put the plug back in done just a word of caution before draining from sump check that you can undo the drain plug in the side of the box 8mm if i remember, good look |
