Here's a photo of a set of 400m "take-offs" I just bought
from a dood with a new 340i .. with summer run flats. The old 393s are in the back seat. |

Here is my 340 xdrive with BMW 441m wheels in ferric gray. They are similar to the 400m wheels my car came with but the center and spokes have a more aggressive look. I have a square setup and no suspension mods.

Can anyone with aftermarket 18" wheels chime in here please. I'm ordering a set of 18x8.5" VMR V710s. I was told that I should go with 225/45/18's or 235/40/18's. However the tire place is saying that I should go with 235/45/18 tires. My car is a RWD 328i lowered with Dinan springs. What are you guys running? Would 235/45's rub with such a mild lower (3/4" front and back)?

JK. 18x8.5 is the same as a stock 400m rear, so 255/40 is typical. I don't think 235/45 would rub, but the sidewall is taller than stock. 225 is a bit narrow for 8.5 inches, so I'd wonder if they offer 18x8, and get 18x8 fronts and 18x8.5 rears, so you can run a typical 225/45 and 255/40 staggered setup. Otherwise 235/45 all the way around should be fine if you don't want staggered. Don't think I'd choose 235/40 all the way around.

Also 245 will be closer to OEM rolling diameter than 235. If you are leasing or care about resale value, a -2.2% rolling diameter = 2.2% more mileage reported on the odometer for every actual mile driven. To get exact rolling diameter 255/40R18 is also a choice, but imo they are too heavy and fat for a 8.5 rim. http://www.tyresizecalculator.com/ch...rim-size-chart. 245 remains the best balance. |
