5 hours?

sally paints half- 2 hours; John paints half- 3 hours; total of 5. Or you can do (4+6)/2= 5. I think that's the correct answer...

3 hours right? x/4 =1 and x/6 = 1. So (x/4) + (x/6) = 1 => x/3 =1 => x=3. Right?

Hmmm interesting answer. I had a feeling it wasn't as easy as I thought (hence the 5 hours?). lol

Very interesting question and answer indeed.

In 1 hour Sally will paint 1/4 and John will paint 1/6.
Therefore in 1 hour they will paint:

1/4 + 1/6
= 6/24 + 4/24
= 10/24
= 5/12

Therefore in 2 hours they will paint 10/12 of the house. For the last 2/12:

For 5/12 it takes 1 hour so for 2/12 we are looking at 2/5 of an hour which is 24 mins. So in total 2 hours and 24 mins.

I get a kick out of how math instructors try to apply problems to real world situations that are completely irrelevant to life under normal conditions....

Lol. If sally can paint the house "by herself" in 4 hours. then i think it would be even faster with the help of some slow fuck that does it in 6. Its been a couple years since ive dont math so i have no clue in the world how to put equations together anymore.

But at the same time you could argue that because John can paint the house "by himself" in 6 hours, with the help of Sally he can do it faster, thus the 5 hours. She helps reduce his time while he drags her down. Since the answers weren't provided there was no way of knowing what kind of math was involved. It could have been as simple as averaging or as "complex" as what the OP posted.

You would think the answer would've been found pretty quickly with all the Asians on the forum.

lol

I say let Sally paint the second (or third? who knows!) house by herself since she enjoys painting those houses so much

John is obviously disabled as it makes no sense that a man would take longer to do physical labor than a woman, or Sally is a giant.

as a result: a little less than 4hours assuming that that dumb hoe can figure out a way to paint faster after painting a whole fucking house (you learn a few things) whilst John seeks his balls after being emasculated by Sally the giant.

in this picture, Sally emasculates John (bonus points for actually knowing why I picked this picture)
