F*ck im so nervous for tonight! If the Wings can stay healthy all series and the refs keep from giving the sharks 10 pp a game I think the Wings are good. We'll see though this is gonna be a great series. Datsyuk is god.

Datsyuk is definitely on fire, and I think Z is going to do his thing. I can't remember who Modano replaced, but I'm guessing he's scratched because of Z and Franzen, same as Draper. Sucks that Drapes is out, he can really make a difference on key faceoffs.

Guess we'll find out. I think I'm going to order pizza for the game.

Yeah and faceoffs were a big reason we got thumped last year. That, and the refs were practically wearing SJ jerseys...

The boarding call was weak, but the slash was weaker. I mean, c'mon you could see Marleau pretend his wrist was hurt just long enough to ensure the call, and then skates to the bench without even looking at it again. Classic Sharks embellishment. I wish the NHL would crack down on it a lot more, although I must say SJ isn't nearly as bad about it as they were last year.

And FFS these CSN CA announcers are fucking terrible.

OK I know what the Wings did wrong in Game 1. You're supposed to smash your face into the opponent's stick and hope for a penalty. Got it. Will do better next game and start diving to even the power play chances.

Yeah but we still had our PKers out there. Didn't get the chance to change, so the goal was directly as a result of the four minute kill.

It doesn't matter. Fluky penalty and then fluky goal. Not much you can do about that. I think we can get to Niemi if we start playing better. We had plenty of chances where we should have scored and the game should have ended in regulation, but we didn't close the deal. That won't happen often.

And gotta love how they called boarding on us but not on an exact similar play (if not worse) by SJ.

And seriously, enough with this pansy paper cut blood bullshit. These guys come back out on the ice with broken teeth and gashes around their eyes all the time, I don't think a drip of blood should guarantee 4 minutes.

I hope the Wings come back stronger from this. They scored early, but gave the second period to the Sharks. It sucks that Howard kept them in the game for so long and then gave up an easy shot, but the defense was lacking tonight. Stuart threw his stick at the boards after losing, and rightfully so, but they need to direct that into Game 2 and take back home ice advantage.

The Wings will be fine. I think the rust everyone was expecting showed itself when they should have finished the plays to put the pucks in the net. They set a lot of plays up well, just didn't finish. I was glad to see Z back and appearing to be extremely healthy but Franzen has to get his head out of his ass.

Franzen just needs to loosen up. He had a great chance off Hudler's pass, and he would normally get a goal like that.

Z played very well, and created some nice opportunities with Datsyuk, but they need to follow up on second chances. Datsyuk made some sweet ass moves tonight, but they didn't seem to convert to a lot of shots on goal.

With the way they currently are playing? Nope...the drama will continue.

This team attacks and control the puck for 20 minutes of the game (i.e. the first two periods), and during the 3rd period they change into a defensive style and refuse to cross the other blue line. This is why the Nucks got themselves into trouble with the Hawks.

Well it looks like the Wings are bowing out ungracefully again.

Might as well dress the Grand Rapids roster for Game 4. They'd have a better chance of winning.

Pretty disappointing. They just don't seem to have that other gear that they've called upon in the past to close games out. Howard hasn't been a difference maker and in the playoffs you need that. Niemi has been much, much better.
