Senators Demand the Military Lock Up American Citizens in a “Battlefield” on US Soil

While nearly all Americans head to family and friends to celebrate Thanksgiving, the Senate is gearing up for a vote on Monday or Tuesday that goes to the very heart of who we are as Americans. The Senate will be voting on a bill that will direct American military resources not at an enemy shooting at our military in a war zone, but at American citizens and other civilians far from any battlefield — even people in the United States itself.

Senators need to hear from you, on whether you think your front yard is part of a “battlefield” and if any president can send the military anywhere in the world to imprison civilians without charge or trial.

The Senate is going to vote on whether Congress will give this president—and every future president — the power to order the military to pick up and imprison without charge or trial civilians anywhere in the world. Even Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) raised his concerns about the NDAA detention provisions during last night’s Republican debate. The power is so broad that even U.S. citizens could be swept up by the military and the military could be used far from any battlefield, even within the United States itself.

The worldwide indefinite detention without charge or trial provision is in S. 1867, the National Defense Authorization Act bill, which will be on the Senate floor on Monday. The bill was drafted in secret by Sens. Carl Levin (D-Mich.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) and passed in a closed-door committee meeting, without even a single hearing.

OMG! The overall level of hysteria could be mitigated if one actually read the bill. As it always has said and always will, citizens of the U.S. are specifically excluded from any reference to detention, etc.

Umm if this is correct (and im assuming that it isnt) IT would most definetly qualify as unreasonable search and seizure.

However, there is a precedent. In WWII the US military put every person of Japanese decent into internment camps. And the government has restricted rights in the past. In WWI you could be imprisoned if you voiced any outrage at the war. And the same idea was enacted during the civil war.

UPDATE: Don’t be confused by anyone claiming that the indefinite detention legislation does not apply to American citizens. It does. There is an exemption for American citizens from the mandatory detention requirement (section 1032 of the bill), but no exemption for American citizens from the authorization to use the military to indefinitely detain people without charge or trial (section 1031 of the bill). So, the result is that, under the bill, the military has the power to indefinitely imprison American citizens, but it does not have to use its power unless ordered to do so.

But you don’t have to believe us. Instead, read what one of the bill’s sponsors, Sen. Lindsey Graham said about it on the Senate floor: “1031, the statement of authority to detain, does apply to American citizens and it designates the world as the battlefield, including the homeland.

I've changed my mind, you are right. This is a top secret (bi-partisan!) attempt to prepare to round up American citizens using federal troops and hold them indefinitely. This bill probably uses invisible ink to fund the FEMA prison camps too. Shhhhhhh! It's a secret plot--only we know about it! Prepare for the black helicopters, they are on the way!!

Here's a bet--if this gets signed into law with ANY equivocation about the exemption for U.S. citizens (enemy combatant status not withstanding) I will put on my nice tinfoil hat and join the party!

As everyone realizes by now, Congress' push for indefinite detention includes American citizens on American soil. As Huffington post notes:

2. increase the welfare state to get more people to be fully dependent on the govt...no will to fight when they control your food and shelter.

3. no more paper money...electronic money to fully control ones purchasing power and rights

4. FEMA camps already set up for inner fight...I am thinking it goes down around 2014-16...you will know when the dollar collapses.

5. will take more and more % of GDP to pay the interest of our debt...the govt and the Fed's will do what they do best, print more money...this will lead to inflation and that is what will drive the anti-govt movement in the future...occupy wallstreet is the warm up and everyone knows it.


But there are millions of people who think the conspiracy theorists are stupid and wrong yet the evidence keeps piling up...one day when they realize the truth it will be too late.
