What's wrong with this picture? Thanks Los Angeles Dept. of Water & Power!!

Took a trip to Bishop, CA over the weekend.

Along the way, I noticed something troubling between my navigation screen and what I could see outside.

Per navigation screen, here is what I was supposed to see:

Here is reality:

Its like those parking lots that have dust blowing around, yet warn you that it's a flood plain. There COULD be that much water, if it were pouring as you drove by.

There are similar "seasonal" lakes all over the west. Vast acreage, a couple of feet deep, high acid content, no life, here one day, gone another. I asked about fishing one going north out of Reno once. Next time I went up that way it was totally gone. Next time after that it was back again. Kinda weird.

There is nothing "seasonal" about Owens Lake.

In the early 1900's, the Owens River that fed into Owens Lake was diverted to supply water to Los Angeles.

LA has turned into a cancer. Sad to think how amazing southern CA or CA as a whole must have been like 100 years ago.

CA is like the girl in HS that was naturally hot as hell with T&A to match. never had to hit the gym or watch what she ate. Well the years have gone by and she is still trying to get by on how she lived when she was younger but time has taken its toll and now she's that bar fly that's run down and all used up.
