I really liked this car when I first saw the M-Sport press release pictures. Seeing these videos now, in motion, my stomach turns a little and I get flashbacks of the 5 GT. Ugh.
Will have to wait to see it in person. All said, sounds like a re-packaged re-branded 5 GT, with some M-Sport flare. I'd hate to see this car in a base configuration. It may just look identical to the 5 GT. Add some 260 pounds to a 3 series sedan weight, make it taller, longer and boom. You got your self a 5 series with a 3 series badge on it. |

Definitely, a winner true to the four door sports car goal.

Saw the GT at the NY car show yesterday. Much better looking than a 5GT. Back end looks almost coherent.
Although they wouldn't let anyone sit in it, the legroom in the back seat looked substantial. Would probably have to drive a 3 and 3GT back to back to get a real feel for it. Its not a 4 GC, but that'll probably be smaller and 5K more expensive. |

i think next they should make 1,2,4,6,7 series GTs. they could also serve ever so slightly different purposes.

Burn them all with fire!!
BMW would have been better off giving the US more options for the 3er touring, n55 6-speed, etc...

They had the car open for CCA members to crawl all over at the NY Auto Show this morning. The back seat leg room is fantastic, and the cargo space is very large in comparison to the wagon, too. This car makes a lot of sense for someone like me who needs some utility but really doesn't want a SUV. After sitting in and seeing the 3 GT firsthand, I'm pretty sure it will replace my X3 when the lease is up, and I'll be happier driving it.

Case and point. The 3 GT will most likely be cross shopped with the a X3, X5 and 5 GT. Almost not even the same car as a 3 series sedan. Taller, longer, bigger and 250+ lb heavier than my f30. Hmmm ... decisions, decisions. Voice in head: But then again, it has those bastardized M badges ... Those a rare ... That's got to be worth something ... surely, BMW wouldn't just slap them on just any car, with no actual significance. I mean come on, even the side vents are functional! Hmm ... got me thinking again. |
