F30 335i Dyno

Friend of mine hit the dyno the other day. He is not on the forums but I decided to post this up for him. I am blown away by the results! Guess he wasn't lying when he said he breaks traction at 80mph.

Downpipe
AFE Intake
BMS Chargepipe

Those numbers look great. I am curious though, does anybody know what the dip is around 3200 rpm? Is that the wheels slipping or something?

Agreed! Isn't the record 399whp for n55?

What intake?

I'm wondering how he squeezed almost 30hp more than BMS got out of their F30 with the same mods (especially since the 'stock' numbers they got were around 10whp more than what that chart shows, if I'm reading it right) minus the chargepipe, intake, and axle back. I'd expect those mods to give about 10-15whp.

Regardless, those are great numbers! I want! Time to put it on the drag strip and see what she can do.

AFE intake and BMS Chargepipe.

He originally was running a meth kit but he was ran into too many issues.

Another significant note, he boosts at 20psi.

How is it that he's running 20psi on the f30 map7? isn't the boost 18.5psi on map7? Maybe he's running a custom map6 with 20psi?

Nope. No custom maps. Just the JB4.

As far as how he's hitting 20psi I don't know.

I own a n54 135i 6spd mt. When we were both stock he was half a car length faster than me.

When we were both just downpipe(s) and JB4 he was door to door with me.

Interesting, since the N54s seem to put down more power mod for mod. Stock, I could see it actually with the transmission advantage of the F30. Maybe the tranny makes up for the power differential? Pretty good considering the 135 is lighter too.

Hey guys that's my car durim is talking about. I have it so it cuts off when I hit 20 psi. But currently pushing 18 19 psi. The car got heat soaked!! It took us like 8 or 9 pulls until we could get the throttle wide open because I was not hitting peak boost. If we would of let the car sit and Dino it I might have gotten a little more out of her.

The stock Dino numbers should probably higher but we only did one run and the throttle was definitely not open fully so I was not hitting boost targets

I didn't understand it myself but it looked like when he would go to 4th gear. He either wasn't stepping on the throttle all the way down and it wasn't opening. So the we switched to 5th gear and did the pulls in 5th and opened the throttle. I don't know if it's because bmw have that step on the gas pedal where u click and it down shifts not really sure. We just new because when we logged the car the throttle was not opening all the way.

Should be great to see if we can get the n55 at 400 or just over 400 whp. Don't want to spoil the sunrise but might be able to happen within a week or two. Keep our fingers crossed.

Wow, so I guess the charge pipe and intake are worth it then? I think I need to upgrade then soon

I don't think they played a significant factor in his results.

Because they were doing pulls in the wrong gear.

LOL @ everyone.

Dyno pulls are supposed to be done in the car's 1:1 gear (or closest to), which in the F30's automatic is 6th. Gears are torque multipliers, and HP is merely a derivative of torque. Of course numbers will be inflated if a lower gear is used.

Put a stock Honda Civic on that same dyno in 2nd gear and watch it put down 500 WHP. Pretty damn impressive. But on top of that...we all know that outright dyno figures with no basis of comparison mean almost nothing.

I believe his numbers will be the same even in 6th gear. One of his pulls were from 5th so I highly doubt his results would be significantly lower or more realistic from a 6th gear pull.

Why the disbelief?! He has logs proving he peaks at 20psi !
