BMW Manufacturing announced today the successful expansion of the company’s hydrogen fuel-cell material handling equipment across its 4.0 million square foot production facility. In 2010, BMW completed the installation of a hydrogen storage and distribution area near the plant’s Energy Center to power about 100 pieces of fuel cell material handling equipment. Since that time, the company has more than doubled its hydrogen-fuel cell fleet to approximately 230 units to service the entire plant’s production and logistics functions.
“BMW continues to complement its sustainable production model by adding alternative, efficient technology, said Josef Kerscher, President of BMW Manufacturing. “Successful implementation, and ultimately expansion, of our hydrogen fuel cell material handling fleet has provided a sustainable energy source that exceeds our expectations.”

Consumer Reports has issued its latest Best & Worst Used Cars report (for April 2013) and the 2009 BMW E90 328i sedan has been named the best sedan in the $20,000-$25,000 category. It shares the top pick with the 2009 Infiniti G and the 2010 Toyota Avalon.
Here’s what the report says about its picks:
The 3 Series combines agile handling, a taut ride, good brakes, and powerful six-cylinder engines in a comfortable, if slightly snug, interior. The Infiniti G is a similarly sporty alternative. Look for the Toyota Avalon if you want a roomy interior and lots of comfort.
The E90 3 Series was refreshed (LCI facelift) for the 2009 model year.
Unfortunately, the BMW 7 Series makes the list of cars … CONTINUED

Great looking photoshoot of the last two BMW M Roadsters - the Z4 and the Z3.
We bring you the latest sighting of the 2014 BMW 4 Series (F32) Coupe. What we’re seeing here is a 435i Coupe showing clearly for the first time LED headlights and large parts of its interior front cabin.
The optional LED headlights feature squared off coronal rings (angel eyes) much like the optional LED headlights seen in other recent BMW models. Sadly however, the optional LED headlights will not feature the special design seen on the BMW 4 Series Concept’s LED headlights which featured hexagonal lights with the corona rings leading out from the inner headlight tube to form a visual link with the inner headlight and the kidney grille.
As we’ve already seen in past spy photos, the 4 Series interior remains close to the … CONTINUED

The Fifth Gear crew reviews the BMW Activehybrid 5. Can a hybrid impress the car nuts and pro drivers of the Fifth Gear team?
Watch their verdict in the segment which starts at 13:04 of the episode.
The latest airing of Fifth Gear had Jason Plato searching for the best daily driver used sports car buy for under $7,000 (£5,000). He narrowed his choices down to the E85 Z4, Boxster S and RX-8.
This particular Z4 had 80,000 miles but was still in excellent condition, garnering it Plato’s pick as the best daily driver and practical choice with the best interior, most refinement, best build quality and gas consumption.
The segment provides some tips on what to be wary of when shopping preowned E85 Z4s - listen for a rattling noise from the upper valve train assembly, which could mean that the VANOS unit requires replacing (cost is approximately $1500 for such a fix at the dealer). Also be sure to check the electric … CONTINUED
