The F82 M4 and F80 M3 prototypes have now shed a significant amount of camouflage, revealing more than ever.
In the collection of photos and videos below you’ll see a Frozen White M3, Alpine White M3, and a silver M4 coupe. By dropping some of their camouflage and being fitted with more final equipment/parts, we can now see (for the first time or better than before):
Carbon Fiber Seats
Carbon fiber front seats can be made out in the photos as the F80 M3 drives by the camera. Although its CF weave can’t be seen, the carbon fiber back of the seats are clearly reflecting light and it’s easy to tell that the seats are of the single piece ‘racing’ variety – without separate headrests. This BMW logo roundel art project by a BIMMERPOST member was recently featured on BMW’s facebook, twitter and instagram pages. From the creator:
It is almost 4′ x 4′ and there are over 320 Hot Wheels cars of which about 95% are easily recognizable to car people (very few Hot Wheels only creations) and many BMW’s. The original plan was to only use BMW’s but I soon realized it would be impossible to collect that many. All of the cars between the B and the W (including the letters) are BMW’s and many of the blue and white cars along the edges are BMW’s with some more in there too.
Edit: I just weighed it and it is 46 lbs.
Some first renders of the 2016 7 Series (G11), which is rumored to the first non-i BMW model to receive extensive use of carbon fiber construction to reduce weight.
Here’s a quick shot of the F15 X5 next to the E70 X5, for a good real life comparison.
Some more BMW i3 videos for your consumption. Jacob Benoit, head designer of the BMW i3 talks about the car and gives a walk-through of the vehicle. Also some extra B-roll footage from the NYC debut of the i3.
The BMW i3 will be making its world public debut at the IAA Frankfurt auto show in September. It will go on sale in the US market in the second quarter of 2014 and starts with a base MSRP of $41,350, before any federal or state incentives, and before Destination & Handling fee.
Many 1M owners met at the Dijon-Prenois track in France for the 1M 2013 Europe meet. They got to cruise the track for some great photo ops, so have a look inside.
BMW Team RBM’s Augusto Farfus (BR) finished third as the DTM made its debut at the “Moscow Raceway” to claim BMW Motorsport’s first podium finish since the race in Spielberg (AT). Farfus started from third in the Castrol EDGE BMW M3 DTM and successfully defended this position over the final few laps, fending off the attention of Adrien Tambay (FR, Audi), who was on far fresher tyres. The podium was the fifth of Farfus’ DTM career and marked the seventh time a BMW driver had been on the podium in the 2013 season. Victory went to Audi driver Mike Rockenfeller (DE).
Joey Hand (US) also put on an impressive display in his BMW M3 DTM, fighting back from 15th on the grid to come home seventh. … CONTINUED
