The latest Euro NCAP results are in and the 2011 F20 1-series has received the full 5-star rating.
The new 1 series even scored well enough to achieve the maximum safety rating under a stricter NCAP criteria being introduced next year. For the 2012 tests, cars will be required to score at least 60% (up from current 40%) in the pedestrian protection category to be awarded a full 5 stars.

The 2011 Frankfurt IAA auto show is underway and we bring you the first of our coverage, starting with the BMW Performance F20 1 series.
As we’ve posted earlier, this is a showcase vehicle used to introduce the new line of BMW Accessories for the 2012 F20 1 series, which include BMW Performance front bumper with spoiler lip, performance rear bumper, sideskirts, black grilles, carbon fiber mirror covers, performance stripes, 19″ Performance wheels, and BMW Performance brakes.

BMW has released a new video and batch of wallpapers featuring some new colors – Valencia Orange on a Urban Line F20 and Mineral Gray on a Sport Line F20. Full set inside.
This is the first music (industrial) film of the BMW Group. “check my machine” is a film project which has been created in a close collaboration between the BMW Group’s Electronic Media Department and creative Munich artists Jonas Imbery (Gomma Records) and Mirko Borsche (Bureau mirko borsche). The Brainstormclub and Eyetrip are responsible for production.
The soundtrack was exclusively generated out of the noises of the new F20 BMW 1 Series.
This new video courtesy of BMW UK showcase the interior of the F20 1-series hatchbacks and closes in on some external details. Seen clearly is the beautiful new dash with its large 6.5 inch display screen. Also of note is a look at the ambient lighting located on the F20′s B-pillar (at 30 seconds).

The F20 1-series was just officially revealed this past weekend, but uncovered models are already driving around on the streets of Germany. Inside are the first live photos of the production F20 1-series 5-door hatchback, in Sport Line trim, but without the standard 17″ Sport Line wheels.
The way to differentiate between the Urban Line and Sport Line trims is that the Sport Line has standard 17″ wheels, high gloss black elements, wide grille slats, and front bumper insert. The Urban Line has white trim components.

We’ve compiled a photo comparison of the F20 1-series 5-door hatchback versus its closest predecessor model – the E87 1-series 5-door hatchback model (non M-sport and facelifted). For your reference, compared to the E87, the F20 body is 85 millimeters (3.35 inches) longer, wheelbase 30 millimeters (1.18 inches) longer, front track 51 millimeters (2 inches) wider, and rear track 72 millimeters (2.83 inches) wider.

Here is the first video of the F20 1-series 5-door hatchback. It’s a short one, but it’s the first live motion clip of the next generation BMW 1-series, and first live comparison to its predecessor, the E87 hatchback. As you watch the video, keep in mind however that the E87 is an M-sport model, so the comparison isn’t exactly apples-to-apples so to speak.
