Here are some new photos of an Alpine White FEP prototype. Looks to the M5 concept for a good idea of what the camouflaged parts will look like on the production M5, although the mirrors and sideskirts will be the versions seen on the test prototypes.
Expected to debut at the M Festival at the Nurburgring in just over a month, the F10 M5 will feature the S63 Twin Turbo V8, rumored to produce more power and torque than the equivalent X5/X6M unit while producing 25% less … CONTINUED
Southern California appears to be a hotbed for FEP stage F10 M5 prototype testing, as multiple test cars are spotted each week. Another black F10 M5 prototype was just spotted last week (video/photos inside). The chase car was no slouch – an E39 M5, and it still had problems keeping up in the beginning of the video.
Although it remains clad in camouflage, we already know what the production F10 M5 will essentially look like by referencing the F10 M5 Concept, albeit with the mirrors and sideskirts … CONTINUED
The guys over at M5Board got their hands on the first picture of the upcoming F10 M5 Engine Bay! This motor is at the heart of all the M5 speculation at the moment. However, it has undergone modification for use in the M5 and BMW is clutching onto the exact power and torque figures, keeping us all in suspense.

Now that the BMW Concept M5 has been shown to the public, BMW has basicly unwrapped their test fleet of M5s– because we all know the shape. The benefit of that for us is that we get a preview of the M5 in a variety of colors, and so far we’ve gotten to see the car in Silver and White. Other popular colors such as Monte Carlo Blue have been shown off in the past, but unfortunatly with the body cladding still on the … CONTINUED
M-Power.com has just published a new video of the F10 M5 at BMW’s own racetrack in Miramas, France. BMW gives us another glimpse at the testing procedures they perform, including high speed (> 300 km/h or 190mph), launch control vs. smoky burnout, wet handling course and general performance testing. They have obviously also reworked the launch control function of the M DCT and gives us a neat demonstration. The BMW engineers are optimizing the new BMW M5 even for extreme conditions. This video documents the testing … CONTINUED
With the production M5′s likely reveal next month, F10 M5 FEP-stage prototypes are out testing in force. We bring you the best photos yet of an Alpine White FEP F10 M5 testing on the streets of Germany. Although there’s never been any suspense as to which car we’ve been spying, the M5 badge has finally been affixed to the prototype, giving it a more final-form feel and signaling just how close we are to seeing the production version.
Not much camouflage remains on the prototype M5s. … CONTINUED
A 5POST member spotted this FEP-stage F10 M5 recently and was able to capture video and photos. According to him (and a BMW master technician family member), he believes he possibly witnessed a F10 M5 manual transmission and ceramic brakes. What do you think? View the video and photos inside.
EVO has posted a great video review of a preproduction F10 M5 by Chris Harris, filmed in the Swedish winter. If you’ll recall, EVO previously posted a bit of a teaser clip and article in which it was confirmed that the new M5 will have at least 555hp (that’s the output of the X5 M and X6 M) and that “there’s a seven-speed DCT dual clutch transmission with three different shift speeds and a fully automatic mode.
This video gives us a better sense of the visceral … CONTINUED
Here is another video featuring the BMW Concept M5. Some weeks after the Unveil in Garching, BMW is currently showcasing the Concept M5 at the 2011 Shanghai Motor Show, and M-Power.com has just released a video of the VIP preview event, featuring some M enthusiasts prediction and then reaction to the M5 unveil.
Here it is – the pre-production F10 M5 with as little camouflage as we have ever seen it with. With most of the front bumper exposed, it’s easy to see that it will basically mirror the front fascia of the concept F10 M5 revealed last month. These sleeker (than concept) side mirrors were not revealed on the concept F10 M5, but should debut on the production F10 M5 in Frankfurt later this year, at the production M5′s world reveal. Expect these wheels to be production intent.

The F10 M5 concept has made its first public debut at a 2011 Shanghai Autoshow pre-show press event. The F10 M5 concept has previously only been shown in a private event hosted by BMW M GmbH at the Garching headquarters.
