This is the best 1M coupe in-car video we have seen yet. Chris Harris captures the sounds and experience from inside during a hotlap at Ascari circuit, and the 1M sounds better than in any previous clips. The driver reveals little, but does estimate a Nurburgring lap time.
BMW 1M Coupe first ride reports keep flowing in, this time from Autocar UK, which calls this a truly exciting car which feels every bit as agile as the standard M3 (at least from the passenger’s seat). Autocar reports that the 1M will be approximately 350bhp, with 6 speed manual and 7 speed DCT options, and will be lighter than the 135i.
Car Magazine shares their first ride reaction of the 1M Coupe and they share/confirm some info, most notably: expected 350hp, limited slip differential, tire sizes, 7500rpm redline, DCT transmission unlikely, suspension from M3.
Here are some more pictures of the 1-series M, including the first interior shots. This is still the prototype, so its subject to changes, but so for we have M3 seats, M3 steering wheel and different gauges (not sure if the two-tone dials are here to stay). Fuel cutoff appears to be at 7,000 rpm. Contrary to some reports, you can also see a proper LSD.
Car and Driver was given a ride in the prototype 1M Coupe at the Ascari racetrack in Spain and shares that even in prototype form, it was almost everything they had hoped for. They were treated to a very fast lap which demonstrated the handling prowess of the 1M Coupe. Check out their experience.
Autobilds current issue has an exclusive on the 1M Coupe. According to Autobild, the 1M Coupe will feature 340PS, twin turbo N54 engine, 6MT standard (DCT optional). Note: these specs have NOT been officially confirmed!

Here are some updates on the upcoming BMW 1M — “1M” appears to be settled name for the new M-level 1-series. It is currently shooting on Lanzarotte, a Spanish volcanic island, but will shoot in LA later this summer. Look to AutoBild’s latest issue for a feature on the BMW 1 Concept M.
Shortly after BMWs victory at the 24h @ the Nurburgring, Dr. Segler, the director of BMW M GmbH sat down to give an interview with the German language publication Auto News, where he comes right out and confirms the BMW 1-Series M. He goes on to say the car will arrive in the second quarter of 2011.

To date, weve only seen two test mules so far. The earliest one was the sedona red with chopped fenders to accomidate a wider track and wider wheel/tire combinations. From the exterior, the car was simply a standard 135i with the aformentioned chopped fenders. The second car to arrive on the scene is the now famous black M1/1M we have seen on the nurburgring which appears to have the final body work (under heavy masking of course).

Jon Sibal has again produced a stunning rendering of an upcoming BMW, this time the BMW M1 coupe. The M1 elements seen on this car (aggressive front bumper, hood bulge, side vent and skirts, flared fenders) look possible from spy photos and has been confirmed to be very close to the real thing by BMW insider.
As promised, here is the first ever video of the BMW M1 production body test car hotlapping the Nurburgring, as well as footage from near the track. The M1 looks fast and very firmly planted around the turns, with minimal bodyroll, as well as sounding terrific! Not enough? We will bring you more tomorrow!

The BMW M1 photo with advanced production bodywork was spotted storming the Germany countryside. Sporting the same bodywork as previously seen here, seen is a a more aggressive front end, larger fenders, a trunk-mounted lip spoiler, big alloy wheels and cross-drilled rotors appear.
