As we knew, there are multiple F80 M3 and F82 M4 cars at the Detroit auto show. One of our readers recently discovered the ‘spares’ parked in the garage underneath the Cobo Center (where the show is being held).
As luck would have it, he was driving his Le Mans Blue E92 M3 Coupe, which of course called for a photo with the new M3/M4.
BMW Motorsport goes into the coming DTM season with a new partner on board. When the new BMW M4 DTM driven by António Félix da Costa (PT) appears on the starting grid for the opening race in Hockenheim (DE) on 4th May, it will do so in a Red Bull livery. Félix da Costa has been part of the Red Bull Junior Team since 2012 and will race alongside Timo Glock (DE) for BMW Team MTEK in the DTM.

We hope you’ve been enjoying our coverage from the 2014 Detroit auto show, but we’re not done yet!
We’ve just had the opportunity to speak to BMW M representatives, including BMW M CEO Dr. Nitschke, Carsten Pries (Director of Product, BMW M), Albert Biermann (Director of Engineering, BMW M) and Florian Nissl (BMW M4 Exterior Designer), on the new M3 and M4. This is what they had to say about some of the questions you had, as well as other topics in this FAQ .

We can sense the anxiousness in many of our M3/M4-owners-to-be’s posts, as there have not been many updates on pricing/ordering/delivery for the 2015 M3 and M4.
We can now provide a better timeline of what to expect. As for pricing — base pricing has been determined and options/packaging and pricing for those are being finalized currently. They will be released late this month at earliest (February is a safe bet).
Important M3/M4 Dates:
January 18-25: Public auto show debut dates @ Detroit
End of January-February: Pricing-Ordering Guides … CONTINUED
We’ve just learned the base pricing for the 2015 M3 (F80) and M4 (F82)!
2015 M3: $62,000
2015 M4: $64,200
These prices do not include the $925 destination/handling currently (always subject to change).
This represents a not insignificant increase in base price for the M3 compared to the predecessor E90 M3, but keep in mind that it now comes equipped with a carbon fiber roof and factory in inflation since the last M3 sedan.
We’ve shown you many still images of the BMW M4 (photos), M3 (photos) and M235i (photos), now watch how they were introduced to the world at today’s BMW Press Conference at the Detroit auto show.
We’ve shown you the Yas Marina Blue F80 M3 making its world debut here at the Detroit Show, now have a look at the F82 M4 in Black Sapphire Metallic and Austin Yellow Metallic. If forced to pick, my choice would be the M4 in Black Sapphire over the Austin Yellow; it looks sinister!
As with the M3, both M4s wear the optional M Carbon Ceramic Brakes and the beautiful double-bubble carbon fiber roof.
Deliveries will also begin in June, and pricing will be announced at … CONTINUED
The 2014 BMW M3 (F80) and BMW M4 (F82) have just made their debuts here at the 2014 Detroit NAIAS show. Here is our first set of photos of the stunning F80 M3 in Yas Marina Blue. It’s indeed more attractive in person as its metallic paint gives it a look and sheen that is hard to appreciate in photos.
We’ve tried to capture what we’ve seen with our eyes, so enjoy!
More photos (of M4) to come soon, so check back.
Along with the Austin Yellow BMW M4 coupe and Yas Marina Blue M3 sedan, there is also a third color model on hand – a Black Sapphire BMW M4 Coupe.
Here’s a first look.
Very first looks at the production BMW M3 (F80) and BMW M4 (F82) on display at their world debut at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show starting tomorrow!
The BMW M4 Coupe (F82) debuts tomorrow at the 2014 Detroit NAIAS autos how, but it’s already been spotted driving around the streets of downtown Detroit, in the exact color it will debut in – Austin Yellow.
Check out how the production M4 looks in public, fully revealed!
The upcoming F80 M3 and F82 M4 will be the first production BMWs to feature a carbon fiber (CFRP) driveshaft for lighter weight and reduction in rotating mass, which which in turn results in more dynamic powertrain response.
The properties of the extremely light yet impressively durable material CFRP have allowed the engineers to follow a fundamentally new approach in the manufacture of the drive shaft. Made from CFRP, this component feeds the engine
