BIMMERPOST member Kyle Shim recently spotted an M4 Coupe prototype and set off a foot chase while trying to capture video for us. Very entertaining watch, not only because of the great sounds coming from the M4, but because of the intense chase!
Only 3 months remain until the production BMW X4 (F26) is introduced to the world at the 2014 Geneva auto show, making it 11 months between the concept first debuted at the Shanghai auto show and the production debut next March.
Prototypes testing continues and we have some more photos to show you. Although the production X4 has already been caught undisguised recenty (photos), below are pics which also show the scale of the X4 compared to the X3, with which it shares a platform. Their exteriors may be different, but they share virtually the same interior styling (with the X4 less spacious inside).
The US will receive the X4 in 28i (240hp 2.0L N20 engine) and 35i models (300hp 3.0L N55 engine). It’s possible that … CONTINUED
The 2015 Mustang has just been revealed and Ford has revealed that it was benchmarked against the E90/E92 M3 during development. Together with its new independent rear suspension, will the Mustang give the upcoming M4 coupe a run for its money? Or, does it already lag behind the upcoming M3 and M4 by virtue of having been benchmarked against a now discontinued model?
A preview look at the BMW M4 F82 Coupe in Yas Marina Blue, a new standard color for the upcoming F80 M3 and F82 M4.
Testing on the second generation BMW X5 M continues while the prototypes shed some camouflage. This is the first red F85 X5 M we’ve seen and as with earlier prototypes, it wears the signature M components – huge front air intakes, more aggressive sideskirts and rear diffuser, blue M brakes, and cross drilled rotors (the first for any X5 model). We also have a better look at the quad exhaust pipes which, unlike the current X5 M, feature a new angled design (same as the upcoming M3 and M4).
We now see double-slatted kidney grilles fitted to the X5 M prototype for first time. This has become another signature M styling bit for the latest M models, including the M5 LCI facelift, M6 and the … CONTINUED
One of the unknowns surrounding the BMW X4, which will make its debut at the 2014 Geneva show in March, is whether it will be offered in a full blown M model (i.e. X4 M) like its bigger cousins – the X5 M and X6 M. Early indications have been no.
But a new report suggests that although a full fledged M model may not be in BMW’s plans, a diesel M Performance Model may be. This is according to statements made in a recent interview by BMW Australia Managing Director, Phil Horton.
Horton recently said that “There are plans to expand the diesel M lineup,”… “I think where there might be potential is in the new X4, which we’ll be bringing in next year.” He … CONTINUED
We bring you the first live look at the 2016 X1 (F48) prototypes. The F48 recently began its testing a couple of months ago and while still heavily camouflaged, the test mules reveal a brawnier and stockier look than the current E84 X1. Compared to the E84, the F48 X1 features a shorter front end, shortened overhangs and a taller and more upright greenhouse. While some may mistaken the E84 X1 for a larger wagon, there’s no mistaking the upcoming F48 X1 as a compact SAV.
The F48 X1 will also make a departure from the current X1 by making the switch from RWD to FWD. It’s been built on BMW’s FWD “UKL” platform and should be offered in both FWD and AWD models. The … CONTINUED
The BMW M4 Concept has been making the rounds at many venues, beginning with its debut at the Pebble Beach week three months ago.
It’s now making its auto show premiere at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, the only auto show that it will be making an appearance. That’s because the next major auto show – the 2014 Detroit NAIAS in January will feature the dual world premieres of the production 2014 M3 (F80) and 2014 M4 (F82).
What will the production models bring? The M4 Coupe will essentially retain its concept form (minus some of the fancier carbon fiber add-ons), while the M3 Sedan will look just like the recently spotted Yas Marina Blue M3.
Final performance figures and specs will be revealed at Detroit and … CONTINUED
