The patent drawings for the upcoming X4 SAV have been revealed and they preview many body panels, as well as headlights and tail lights.
The front bumper pictured in the diagrams may be an M Sport bumper as it features much larger air intakes than those seen on recent standard model X4 prototypes.
And while the production X4 will lose the hexagonal corona lights of the X4 Concept, the diagrams show that the X4 will receive a full adaptive LED headlight option (figure 3.2).

We were on hand to witness the BMW X4 Concept making its world debut today at the 2013 Auto Shanghai. As the X4 Concept draws heavily on the design of the X6 SAC, it looks very much like a mini-X6. The X4 Concept has been revealed and as expected, it’s a mini version of the X6 SAV, both a coupe version of their more upright brothers (X3 and X5, respectively).

The just revealed X4 Concept previews the production X4 (F26) SAV which will share the same platform and underpinnings with the X3 (F25) when the X4 hits the market next year. The two will share the same powertrains and have mirroring model lines, as the X6 does with the X5.

In case you missed it in the recent statements by the BMW CEO, the BMW X4 SAV is confirmed to be hitting the market in 2014.
Also being confirmed by BMW is an already well-accepted fact – that the upcoming X4 will be built solely at the U.S. Spartanburg plant, which already produces the X3, X5 and X6. The X1 is built in Europe (or in China for the Chinese market).

The BMW X4 (F26) is being rumored to be debuting at the 2013 Detroit NAIAS in January. That the X4 is coming is no surprise as BMW previously officially announced its intention to build the X4. What wasn’t known however, was the timing of its debut.

The “0 Prototype” featured and teased prominently in the recent Plan 0 video (a look into BMW’s secret prototyping process) is likely to be the future BMW X4 SAV, which will take on the coupe SAV look of a baby X6, albeit in smaller form.
