Two cars to consider would be the M3 GTS and the just-unveiled C63 AMG Black Series Coupe. 4.4l vs 6.2l V8, 450hp vs 517hp, 1605kg vs (est) 1710kg. Unlike the M3 GTS, the C63 AMG Black Series Coupe will be available in the US starting Spring 2012.

If Auto Motor Und Sport is to believed, the lightweight E90 M3 will also receive the “GTS” moniker, like the E92 M3 GTS coupe. AMS claims the power output will be 440hp, 10 less than the 450hp GTS coupe. Top Gear online reviews the BMW M3 GTS in the Austrian Alps on the infamous Grossglockner Pass. They come away calling the engine, gearbox, and chassis combination a religious experience. Final verdict: Ridiculous. Pointless. Perfect.
The Sept. issue of Sport Auto has hit the stands today and contains several tests of the M3 GTS, including laps on the Nurburgring and Hockenheim tracks. Autobild has pitted the M3 GTS against the 911 GT3-RS, arguably one of the best handling street cars currently available. According to the test’s scoring system, the M3 GTS took second, but by a mere 5 points (out of 300 total). The GT3-RS was stronger in off the line acceleration, but the M3 proved faster for in-gear acceleration. Full results inside.
The first customer M3 GTS was delivered to its owner, Marcus, at the performance days at Nürburgring this weekend. Marcus has already started testing and adjusting the setup to meet his track specs but says the car is great and is destined to become better!
