Matt@Camber-Toe performs a tear down of the N55 motor, BMW’s relatively new single turbo twin scroll N55 engine that now occupies the top spot within BMW’s inline-6-cylinder lineup. An analysis of the potential upper power limits of the turbos will be performed and overall upgradability of the N55.
Here are the first clips we’ve seen of the BMW Performance Exhaust matched to a N55 motor and it sounds terrific! N55 BMWs come from the factory with a throatier exhaust than the N54 due to the absence of two mid cats. Paired with a Performance Exhaust, the N55′s growl is amplified beautifully.
For 2011 BMW has made some substantial changes to the E92 and E92 BMW 3-Series Coupe and Convertible.
The first and foremost and probably biggest change is the introduction of the much debated N55 engine to the 335i3.0l

The N55 is the second turbo engine out of BMWs new push towards EfficientDynamics and increased use of turbos as a replacement for displacement. The unit has been has been reviewed and people are generally happy with it, but whats interesting is that now it seems official: BMW will use the N55 as its main workforce with only a few notable exceptions
