Sakhir Orange or San Marino Blue?

M4 with the competition package. 2 months in and 2 months left until delivery.

Current color is Sakhir. Not sure about it. Never saw any of these colors in person.

Silverstone interior with full leather.

What do you think?

I have had SO for a year. I'd go with SMB. I like SO, but I don't love it. In full sun, it's pretty nice, but in other lights it just ok. SMB is pretty awesome, plus I'm not a fan of the silverstone with the orange. Just my humble opinion. I loved my AY M4. Atlantis Metallic (Blue) is also great in person.

This poll is missing an option: "Both"

I have a Sakhir Orange M4. My wife has a San Marino Blue M3.

We love them both, but Sakhir Orange is a better choice for the M4. San Marino Blue looks great on the M3 and would probably also look great on the M4.

(IMHO, the Silverstone interior is not a good choice for Sakhir Orange but would look good with San Marino Blue.)

I'm also undecided if I should get the CCB or not... It's a €7,000 option. It looks better, and if it really makes no dust that alone is a significant benefit. The gold calipers would contrast better with the San Marino Blue, too. I won't track the car though.

I'm throwing a vote in for SO. They are both great colors, but I do love my SO. I was hesitant at first too... not sure if I would like it. I love the way it looks different in different lighting, and yes it looks amazing in full sun. I think I read a post here once where someone said "it looks like a ball of fire coming to kill you!". Also I get so many random compliments on the color. I get compliments on the overall car too... but more specifically on the color.

if you are willing to pay 7k for cosmetics than up to you. Some people can swing it....a more affordable solution would be changing your oem pads

CCBs are a complete waste of money for the street, particularly if you're never going to track the car. They need to be warmed up before they can stop effectively, making them impractical in the winter for most of the US and probably in NC. Maintenance is also expensive as replacement pads are far more expensive.

These are not something you should buy for looks; if that's the only reason that you would buy them you need to re-evaluate your priorities, even if you can afford them. If you really like the color have the stock calipers painted gold for far less. The stock brakes on my wife's M3 complement the San Marino Blue quite nicely and they provide a great contrast with Sakhir Orange.

Id rather go full leather than CCBs. even if getting CCBs full leather is a must IMO. night and day difference inside the vehicle with as opposed to without.

I’ve had SO on two cars now, including SO/SS in my current car. So obviously that’s the way I’d go. Nothing wrong with a nice blue either.

As far as CCBs go, I had them on my last car but skipped them this time. I only got them last time because they were on a car I bought off the lot at favorable pricing. Pros: exceptional responsiveness, longevity, looks, lack of brake dust. Cons: upfront cost, noisy, stopping power can be affected in heavy rain, worry about some idiot damaging them (for example while washing or working on the car). There are times I miss them and enjoyed trying them for a few years, but overall I think they are too expensive for my taste. If planning to order the car, ask yourself why you really want them before ordering them.

I have to chime right in with SMB, especially with Silverstone inside.

Another vote for SO. Love my F83 SO with black interior. Big advantage of CCB is the lack of brake dust but they squeak unless they are used properly (hard to do without risk on the streets). Most who track their cars recreationally prefer iron rotors due to the cost of replacing them.

I was in your shoes in February. But every time I look at the SMB M3 I'm like "wow". But I think I would only be "wow" with SO under direct sunlight.

How noisy are the CCBs for daily use?

Can u damage them when washing the car like with a brush or just when the wheel is off and they are exposed like for a tire changes, etc?

They are pretty noisy sometimes, but not all the time. A normal amount of care during washing shouldn’t present a risk, but someone getting overzealous or spraying a harsh wheel cleaner directly on the rotors could conceivably damage them. I didn’t mean to make it sound like the were as fragile as eggshells, but there is a high cost if a rotor is damaged.

I have SMB with full Silverstone. Had Interlagos with Silverstone on the E92. My next M car will be some variant of blue with some variant of Silverstone. Love the color combo. Good luck with whatever you do.
