BMW has just debuted the BMW Zagato Coupe at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy.
BMW may be based in Bavaria, but some of its notable designs flowed from the hands of Italian designers who were responsible for the looks of the BMW 3200 Michelotti Vignale (1959), BMW 700 (1959), BMW 3200 CS Bertone (1962) and BMW M1 (1978).
The videos below show the process and results of the design collaboration between BMW and the Italian designers at Zagato.

The premiere in question will see the time-honoured Milanese coachbuilder Zagato team up with BMW to unveil the result of a unique collaboration: the BMW Zagato Coupé.
Zagato has worked in close collaboration to create an … CONTINUED

From July, the BMW Z4, which converts from a coupé to a roadster in no time at all (even while travelling, at speeds up to 40 km/h) thanks to a retractable hardtop, will offer a new optional feature as a visual refinement of the tasteful kind – the BMW Individual hardtop in contrasting colours.
There is a choice between the BMW Individual hardtop in Black non-metallic for a sportier look or in Titan Silver metallic for more elegance. Whatever the choice, the contrasting roof and body colours … CONTINUED
The current Z4 (E89) looks the part, but a prevailing sentiment among auto enthusiasts seems to be that its performance and driving dynamics do not quite live up to its sporty looks.
This may be changing in the next generation Z4 as Insideline is reporting that the third generation Z4 will feature a sportier and more engaging driving experience.
Besides the obvious mechanical changes which will occur, some of the styling is also said to be changing to help achieve this – by shortening the front hood just … CONTINUED

Is an M Performance Z4 model coming? Yes, if BMW insider Scott26′s response to our M related interview at the 2012 NYIAS actually comes to fruition.
This is what he had to say on the matter: “The forthcoming Z4 Life Cycle Impulse will see the Z4 35iS absorbed into the BMW M Performance Automobiles line.”
North America will not be getting diesel M Performance models with the current generation of cars, so this rumored Z4 M35i model (or “Z4 sDriveM35i”) could possibly join the rumored X1 M35i xDrive … CONTINUED

BMW’s new 2.0L 4 cylinder turbo engine (the “N20″) may be down on cylinders and displacement compared to the inline 6 cylinder (N52) that it replaces across BMW’s model range, but even in factory form, it matches the outgoing N52′s horsepowers and features an extra 30 lb-ft of torque (in the X1 xDrive28i, X3 xDrive28i, F20 128i, 528i, Z4 sDrive28i, and upcoming F30 328i).
And what the N20 loses in smoothness and top-end pull compared to the outgoing N52, it now looks like it will easily make … CONTINUED
