Automobile has just tweeted some interesting news on the base Z4 which corroborates a recent report from a ZPOST member. If these reports are correct, the base BMW Z4 will soon be powered by two turbo 4-cylinder variants (sDrive20i and 28i) instead of the current naturally aspirated inline 6-cylinder. This would not come as a huge surprise as recent rhetoric from BMW has pointed to the likely use of turbo 4-cylinder engines in future BMW base models (i.e. next generation F30 3-series), especially with improvements in forced induction technology and the overall goal of increasing efficiency throughout its entire fleet.

BMW has released a limited edition E89 Z4 for the Japanese market, dubbed the SILVER TOP Z4 edition. The major difference between this edition and the regular Z4 is the painted silver folding hardtop roof and silver painted mirrors.

According to insider Scott26, an M version of the current second generation Z4 is inevitable. By late 2012 there will be no compact-medium car for the M division as the 1M and current M3 will both have stopped production and new versions not yet here. That is why the Z4M may be back on the drawing board.

AC Schnitzer has released videos of its various exhaust systems for the F10 550i, Z4 sDrive35is, X6M, 135i, 335i, M3, including comparisons to the BMW factory exhaust.

One of the first things to catch your eye at the BMW stand in Paris this year has to be the BMW Z4 sDrive35is in Atacama Yellow. I believe this is part of the Limited Edition Design Pure Impulse package originally intended for the UK (and seen here: http://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=404269). The matching color arrangement of the Pure Impulse package combined with the sDrive35is drivetrain makes this car the best Z4 one can have at the moment! No word yet if these design elements will be available world wide or not

This very unique shade of Yellow, previously referred to as Atacama Yellow as part of the Design Pure Impulse package in the UK has now shows its face adorned over a fairly well appointed Z4 sDrive 35is. This color is a real headturner!
