Insideline reports that there is no BMW M1 coming. This comes after the nonappearance of the M1 concept at the 2010 Geneva Motorshow, at which it was expected. Instead there will be a hopped up 135is version of the 1-series. But, BMW insider Scott26 maintains that the M1 is coming. Who really knows? Nobody but Rumplestiltskin!

Certainly BMW shows this car off soon, until then the photoshoppers will fill the void and give us wonderful takes on what the car could look like. Here is one based on the few leaked details we know about this car thus far.

What you are seeing here is the clearest teaser yet of the BMW M1 concept which is widely speculated to be making its debut at the 2010 Geneva auto show in just over a week’s time. Wide rear fenders appear on the M1 concept, as well what could be a vent or diffuser behind the rear fenders.

The upcoming BMW M1 will feature an impressive options personalization program for many cosmetic additions. Mentioned items include a full range of carbon fiber exterior parts. M-stripes on exterior (in different colors and placements). 18″ competition wheels in two different finishes. Multiple matte exterior colors and the return of Techno Violet !

Here are some exciting details on the upcoming BMW M1: More muscular appearance than regular 1-series, Trapezoid grille flanked by two intakes to allow extra brake cooling, Six piston brakes, High performance intercooler, Sportier looking headlights than standard 1-series, Small lip spoilers above brake duct inlets to provide extra air flow and downforce, The front wings of the car are massaged slightly to accomodate the wider track. Rear end is also wider. Standard 18″ 5-spoke wheels with optional 18″ Competition wheels (18″ will be the optimium wheel size for the M1), Signature M side vent, Broader wheel arches to accomodate larger track, “Ducktail” CSL style rear trunk (integrated spoiler), Rear valance/diffuser area takes its direction from the standard 135i but with open ducts for aerodynamic purpose, … CONTINUED

Here you see a rendering of the upcoming BMW M1 from Autozeitung magazine. According to BMW marketing insider Scott26, “The look is very close to the aerodynamic pack that adorns the M1″ (minus the metallic crossbars). The magazine also mentions that the M1 will go on sale in Summer 2011, with 355 bhp, 0-60 mph under 5 seconds, and M3 suspension!

The concept M1 is expected at the Geneva Auto Show.

The first teaser image of the upcoming BMW M1 has surfaced on 1addicts! The small image shows a beefy front bumper sculpted in latest M-style, with huge air inlets for engine and brake cooling. According to insiders, the M1 will be unveiled in a unique matte finish, after being tested with many different matte finishes (sepang bronze, white, etc.). Colors options will be plentiful, ranging from the current M colors to updates of past M colors, and even an Inka Orange color (from the 2002).

Car Magazine has published pictures of the M1 undergoing cold weather testing in Scandinavia. While the guys at Car Magazine are assuming that this is a mule for the next gen 1-series coupe (F2x), its safe to say this actually is an M1 prototype. Why? Autocar reports that the BMW M1 has been green lighted! Sales will begin mid-2011 and it will be powered by a turbocharged straight six motor estimated to produce around 350hp.
