Owner and Head of Sales & Marketing of Alpina, Andreas Bovensiepen, introduces and explains the new Alpina B3 and XD3 models in these first videos of Alpina’s two newest models.

The Alpina B3 is based on the F30 335i sedan and the XD3 on the X3 xDrive35i SAV, each recently making a showing at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.

The Alpina B3 bi-turbo features 410hp, which propels the B3 sedan from 0-62mph in 4.2 sec (4.0 sec for xDrive model) and the B3 touring in 4.3 sec (4.1 sec for xDrive model). It consumes only 7.9 l/100km (29.8 MPG U.S.).

The Alpina XD3 boasts 350hp and covers 0-62mph in just 4.9 seconds.

Hitting the spot: BMW Group Design wins four red dot awards in 2013. International jury recognises the excellent design quality of the BMW M6 Gran Coupe, BMW 1 Series, BMW 3 Series Touring and BMW R 1200 GS.

The BMW Group can add another chapter to its successful history in the red dot awards, with BMW Group Design taking home four of the internationally renowned distinctions in the red dot award: product design 2013 competition. The BMW M6 Gran Coupe, BMW 1 Series, BMW 3 Series Touring and BMW R 1200 GS motorcycle were granted red dot design awards in the “Automotive and Transportation” category in acknowledgement of their excellent design quality. BMW has announced some of the important models set for debut at the 2013 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS), which has its press days beginning on March 27.

With this comes the official announcement that a diesel powered BMW 328d will join the 3 Series lineup in the U.S. [already confirmed for Canada]. A prototype was spotted last September in the US.

The 328d will be powered by a TwinPower Turbo 4 cylinder engine, outputting 180 hp / 280 lb-ft of torque and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 7.2 seconds, while getting mileage that could well exceed 40 mpg (official US EPA estimates will be available closer to the launch of the 328d).
