The 2 Series coupe and convertible are on their way, having already been spied in testing for months now. So what’s next to come in the 2 Series lineup? Possibly the 2 Series Gran Coupe, which Autobild has taken a crack at rendering. Although no prototypes have yet been spotted, it’s been previously rumored by BMW insider Scott26 to be on the way.
Here are the models that may round out the 2 Series lineup (some more likely than others), per Scott26:
BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe - 4 door addition of 2 Series Coupe with slightly lengthened wheelbase and roof line, aimed at BMW’s RWD dominance against Audi A3 Sedan and Mercedes-Benz CLA. [More Details]
BMW 2 Series Gran Sports Tourer - Hyundai Veloster type A-symmetrical Tourer … CONTINUED

Thus far, the spied camouflaged 2 Series Coupe and Convertible prototypes remain under heavy front camouflage, obscuring the front fascia design.
But BMW insider Scott26 has shared with us this sketch of what to roughly expect from the 2 Series. As one can see, the smaller (compared to F20) headlights will join the kidney grilles as we’ve expected. The front end’s general look is certainly sportier and more angular based on this sketch.
Car and Driver reports on some BMW M2 rumors. As reported by Jens Meiners:
The M version of the upcoming BMW 2-series coupe and thus the successor of the immensely good 1-series M coupe. Unlike its predecessor—which was rushed through development in record time, known internally as Project Pyrat—the 2015 M2 will undergo a longer gestation, allowing BMW to come up with a more polished package. Look for aggressive restyling, strongly differentiated from the M135i that’s available in overseas markets. The M2 will feature a unique front-end treatment, large air intakes, a wider track and wider rear fenders, as well as a rear spoiler and four exhaust finishers. The expected change in nomenclature from 1-series coupe to 2-series would fall in line with the rest … CONTINUED
We bring you the best look yet at the 2014 2 Series Coupe (F22), this time in red. We previously posted photos of the M235i coupe and other 2 Series coupes, but this is the first clear look we’ve had of the F22 from all angles.
These photos provide an excellent look at the headlight shape, which are much sportier and sleeker than the much maligned headlights of F20/F21 1 Series hatchback (with which the 2 Series lineup shares a platform). The photos do not yet reveal whether the headlights connect to the kidney grilles as it does on the F30 and upcoming models such as the X5 (F15) just spied today.
2 SERIES LINEUP
The 2 Series models will be built on the same RWD platform … CONTINUED
Following the 2 Series Convertible sightings, we bring you the first ever look at the highly anticipated BMW 2 Series Coupe (F22). Why is it highly anticipated? Many BMW enthusiasts hope that it will hark back to the days of a smaller, lighter, nimbler BMW coupe - a role which the 3 Series Coupe (now 4 Series Coupe) seems to have abandoned. The hope is that the 2 Series Coupe will be the E46 3 Series Coupe, incarnate.
M235i COUPE
Not only do we see the standard 2 Series coupe (228i, 235i or other model) on the truck, but the M235i coupe appears front and center! The BMW M235i coupe is expected to be the very first model of the BMW M Performance cars lineup to come … CONTINUED
This just in… we’ve finally spotted the BMW 2 Series! Seen undergoing winter testing in Munich is this 2 Series Convertible (F23) prototype. If you recall from 2006, the very first 1 Series prototype ever spotted was also the convertible version, prior to the coupe model.
What do we see?
To the delight of many F20/F21 1 Series hecklers, even through the camouflage it appears the 2 Series headlights will indeed be sleeker and sportier! A comparison (photo below) against an F20/F21 1 Series prototype at this stage of camouflage shows the size and shape differences between the headlights already. The photos do not reveal whether the headlights connect to the kidney grilles as it does on the F30 and upcoming models such as the next X5 … CONTINUED
BMW inside Scott26 has posted the following summary of the upcoming 1 series, 2 series, M2, Z1, Z2, and X2 lineup, as plans stand now.
By 2020. BMW hope to have projected sales of over two million units.
The larger majority of this level of sales will be combined MINI/BMW based upon the UKL architecture of around 600,000 units , then you can factor in another large number of dedicated SAV sales before we get to the regular series models. As I have said before welcome to the automobile industry.
It is easy for the question “if I was in charge this what I would do?” But today you have to take in consideration of growing segments , established segments , established markets , new markets and exploiting … CONTINUED
First renders of the rumored BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe. Some info from BMW insider Scott26:
With the forthcoming separation of the BMW Compact segment family to accommodate each equal family such as the UKL/Next generation 1er , the current 1er and the all new 2er family are distant in looks and purpose.
The 2er maintains the ability of a RWD drivetrain and the benefits of an entry sports coupe. The renaming of the current 1er Coupe and Cabrio allows BMW to expand on the model line by resorting back to the traditions of classic entry BMW’s - Compact, focused and no limits when it comes to involving driver communication and dynamic handling. For the idea of this expanding family we have to go back to … CONTINUED
