The BMW 5 Series will turn the big 30 this year and BMW has a special edition F10 to mark the occassion. The 528i 30th Anniversary Edition has just gone on sale in Japan.
Only 200 of these 528i 30th Anniversary Edition F10s will come off the line. It’s powered by BMW’s inline 6 3.0L motor (not the 4 cylinder turbo N20 motor).

The 2012 528i will introduce BMW’s Twinpower Turbo 2.0L inline 4-cylinder Motor (N20) to the 5-series lineup. The N20 powered 528i is rated at 245 hp and 258 lb-ft.

Frozen Matte Gray and Frozen Matte Black paint options were made available to European customers beginning this past March for the F10 5 series, which represents the first time that BMW has offered the matte paint option for non-M cars. It is an option only for F10/F11 M-sport packaged cars. As these photos show, the matte finish looks great on the F10, but it doesn’t come cheap. The matte gray and matte black options cost over 3,000 euros.

BMW is reportedly considering bringing the F11 5-series touring / wagon to the U.S. for the first time after disappointing sales from the 5-series GT. In its latest customer survey – the Automotive Performance and Layout Study (APEAL) – assessing satisfaction levels among North American new car buyers, the BMW 5 Series range, BMW X3, BMW Z4 and MINI Countryman emerged as winners of their respective vehicle segments.
