The F30/F32 3 Series and 4 Series dominate this year’s array of BMWs, but there are still plenty of M3, M5, 5 Series, Z4 and E90/E92 3 Series being trotted out by major tuners.

Ward’s Auto has announced the winners of its 10 Best Engines Award. BMW’s N57 3.0L Turbodiesel Inline-6 was named as one of the 10 winners.
The N57 in the 535d outputs 255 hp @ 4000 rpm and 413 lb-ft @ 1500 rpm, while getting EPA MPG of 26/37-38 mpg (city/highway).
Of the 10 winners, 8 featured direct fuel injection, 6 were forced induction and 1 was electric.

Autobild is reporting that the next generation 2017 BMW 5 Series will add a 3 cylinder turbodiesel model in certain markets.
The 3 cylinder turbodiesel 5 Series is rumored to output 150 HP (110 kW) and sip diesel at just 3.9 liters / 100 km (60 MPG US / 72 MPG UK). The next gen 5 Series will ride on a new platform which it will share with the next gen 6 Series and 7 Series.

Delivery of N20 and N26 powered vehicles stopped as a result of power brake assist problem
On September 26th, BMW of North America announced to NHTSA its intention to conduct a voluntary Recall on certain 2012-2014 model year BMW 3 Series, 5 Series, X1, X3 and Z4 models equipped with the N20 or N26 engine, produced from May 2012 to August 2013.

Along with the 4 Series and X5, which had their media launch this past week in Seattle and Vancouver, BMW also brought out the 2014 5 535d (with LCI refresh) and the 2014 M5 with competition package for us to check out. BIMMERPOST F10 5 Series owners (self dubbed the “F10crew” gathered this past weekend for a meet and greet. The meet saw a great turnout, as you can see in this photo documentary.
The study is based on thefts entered in the National Crime Information Center database.
BMW shows up in second place with its 3 series, and again sixth place with the 5 Series in the study, which looks at thefts of 2010 to 2012 model year cars across the country.

The LCI refresh model for the current F07/F10/F11 5 Series begins production this month, but BMW has already begun testing the next generation 5 Series. We’ve spotted the next gen 5 Series Touring here.
The next 5 Series is said to be shedding some weight, hopefully by way of the carbon fiber technologies which the next generation G11 7 Series will receive.
